Sundried Tomato Hummus

I made hummus for the first time: sundried tomato hummus to be exact.
And I have to admit that... I am fairly disappointed. I thought I had messed up the recipe, because it was pretty dry. Is it supposed to be like that? I expected it to be more creamy. And the taste didn't blow me away either. I looked at other hummus recipes, but they were all very much alike, so I guess hummus just tastes like that. Bummer!

Try adding some water, tahini and olive oil. It should thin it out nicely. =) Also, if you used canned chickpeas, reserve the water and use that water. If not, just use the water you boiled the chickpeas in.

I added a little more water and olive oil than the recipe asked for to thin it out, but it's still very dry. I just had the idea to put it back into the food processor and blend it with a fresh red bell pepper. Extra liquid and extra taste. Do you think that would work?

I often make hummus with roasted red bell pepper, so it should be fine.

Did you add more tahini? Did you put any lemon juice in there? I'll do that when I make plain hummus. It is supposed to be creamy, not dry.

I added more lemon juice, olive oil & water last night and one fresh tomato. The texture is good now, but somehow the taste of the chickpeas doesn't drive me crazy. Which disappoints me because I love them in Falafel for example...

I've only ever made garlic hummus and it was just fine. I'll have to check it out and see how much liquid goes in.
